Would love your thoughts here. Did you all know any of this?

I have said before that the UN needs to be restructured for the world of today because it was created to replace the outdated League of Nations, but was structured along the lines of power after WWII. I agree that the Security Council must be rethought. What should its guiding principles be? Is it even necessary in a world desperate for global unity and to have an opportunity to replace war with a fully equal international forum of all nations. Any UN hierarchy should be for procedural matters only so no nation can lay its heavy hand on any other. Regardless of location, clearly all members must have freedom to speak without fear of reprisal, so long as they speak on UN property. The act of delegates walking out on Netanyahu was far more powerful and to the point than the petty cheap shot of Trump against the President of Colombia.

There’s no need for permanent members of the Security Council at all. It’s an anachronism that only exists because otherwise after WW2 the victorious allies never would have supported a UN organization They weren’t about to give up ultimate control over the UN.

ANTIFA IS AN IDEOLOGY

opposing fascism, nationalism, white supremacy, xenophobia, homophobia, authoritarianism, & racism. It’s only logical that by declaring “Antifa” your enemy, you’re acknowledging that you represent what Antifa opposes!

The UN Headquarters should be moved to Panama or Switzerland, but it can't stay in the US, it's clearly a belligerent state.

Best would be in Hawai'i once it REGAINS its national status which has been in suspended animation since being occupied by the US since1893! Learn this sordid story in LIBERATE HAWAI'I!

And the single veto rule MUST go!

I have already said this in several places incl letter to 10 Downing St. IMO the veto and any permanent members of Security Council should be done away with - SC should be all members on rotation for a longer period than 2 yrs, with a system that ensures decent balance of size, economy and geographical spread. Major decisions should require 3/4 of members to agree. And OF COURSE it should move out of US, probably to Geneva where it always has a base. Excluding member states or their leaders makes a mockery of the whole system. UN has been blessed with several excellent Secretaries General - Guterres is a star - but their hands are tied if a rogue US president can treat it in this appalling fashion.

Yes I think that the US is no longer a reliable place to have the UN headquarters, lets have a rally to try to find another country, the veto powers are a joke and should be banned

Move the UN to Madrid or Brussels , get rid of the veto , just the majority wins .. and the USA either joins and follows the rules or stays out .. of course the USA would come up with economic sanctions like they have been doing but they are not stronger than the rest of the world together .. empires end sooner or late

Of course! But I will go a bit further, having thought about this for years. Either abolish the "Security Council" entirely as an imperial anachronism along with its veto and come up with a rational plan for apportioning weight to the 194 countries by population, OR create an entirely new organization (outside the US) using the original principles but without these structural defects. Rogue states can either conform and be part of it or be ostracized (ostrich-sized).

Could someone please find out the email address for the UN and their phone number? Where each of us could post on their social media site or our own sites to propose your very valid rule change. If enough people in the world protest/propose/reach out /write to the UN we can try to make the change

Paris would be a good place to move the UN hdqtrs to. Of maybe Canada, Vancouver or Toronto.

Agree. As the leader of the first UN Peacekeeping mission, Canada deserves serious consideration to take over the hosting of the UN Secretariat. It’s also just up the road (easy to move the furniture!), closer by air to almost every capital in the northern hemisphere, and has both gun control and universal health care. I would support Montreal as the most suitable Canadian city.

I’ve advocated for many years for the UN to permanently move to a more friendly country. I support your suggestion that the UN changes the rules so that it takes 2 of the permanent members to veto any resolution. There must be a change!
