I have a few things I have to say, and I want to admit to you publicly, that because of the current conditions of the United States, saying so may have great consequences to me personally.
1. Europe withdrawing support of Israel - By shaping European awareness about the fact that they cannot maintain contradictory policies/stances at the negotiating table with Russia. With regards to Land annexation, if Europe continues to support Israel, it sets a precedence for Russia to do similar. At the negotiating table, contradictions don't work. For Europe to maximize, optimize, and leverage its benefit at the negotiating table with Russia, it must disown Israel altogether. Its a colony that no longer serves them, in fact, it is a strategic liability now, in the context of pressing conflict in Ukraine.
2. Setting up a Refugee Tent City in Egypt, near Rafah. All major conflicts in history, that are now solved, had a place for refugees across a border but near the conflict. Afghanistan twice, and Syria, both had refugee shelters in neighboring lands.
To avoid this from becoming a mass expulsion is critical here. The Tent City should be set at scale and speed to accommodate refugees, till the Gaza situation improves and becomes livable again.
This tent city should be Managed by a country's government that has an agreement with the US. An agreement that ensured an end to a previous major conflict.
In this case, it can be Afghan Govt. Tent City can be funded by Qatar/KSA/UN/Ireland etc.
Camp David Accord, Doha Accord & Dayton Agreement overlap to create this possibility.
Amazing article Shaun true and powerful words as always. As Allah says in His divine book the Quran, change cannot happen until we change what is within ourselves.
It is absolutely fundamental that we all hold ourselves accountable in order to see change. The above points CAN happen if we are all collectively on the same page.
The power of the people is an extraordinary thing. It MUST happen.
To summarise good will always overcome evil.
May Allah reward you for all your efforts in highlighting injustices from day one.
It’s so good to hear possible Solutions to the horrific genocide and occupation and oppression of the Palestinian people that have been ongoing. Thank you for this article. And I do fear that you are truly at risk for speaking out….. I am flying my flag of Palestine, and also wonder if or when I may be detained. Let them come for all of us.
Shaun, this is one of the most soul-baring, urgent, and clear-eyed pieces I’ve ever read on this genocide. You didn’t just name the failure of strategies we’ve leaned on—you outlined the exact structures and shifts required to pivot. From moral clarity on Israel’s current state, to material consequences, to the demand for physical intervention and new international frameworks—this reads like a blueprint for what history will remember.
What moved me most? The honesty. The admission that social media, courts, and protests are not enough. That prayer must be coupled with power. That nationalism and fear have stalled necessary action. That the systems protecting genocide must be dismantled—not just decried.
This line hit me hardest:
"Are African Americans allowed to kill white people with impunity because of slavery and lynching? Are Asian Americans allowed to kill white people today because they were interned in 1945? No. Of course not."
That is moral consistency. And we desperately need more of it.
This is an excellent article. It is 100% true that all we have been doing has achieved a certain outcome - reclaiming the narrative to an extent, and demonstrating to those too stupid or complacent, or in need of education, Isreal's true nature as an unacceptable genocidal pariah state, an out of control maniac on a killing spree - concrete action is necessary in order to actually stop what is going on. Also very true that the US needs also to be held accountable. Thank you for taking a personal risk in laying all this out (and unsurprisingly, the only people who are unable to discuss "respectfully" are the representatives of the belligerent unhinged entity), we need to make this happen, Egypt's role is crucial here, as is some kind of restructuring to replace the UN since it has revealed itself to be utterly useless and disingenuous. Sadly, with each day that passes, people are being murdered by Isreal.
According to you, there are two ways to stop the "genocide" that started 538 days ago:
1. Everybody in Gaza is killed or forced out.
2. Physical intervention. Whatever that means.
Both ways are violent ways, and it doesn't surprise me at all, even though you begin your article with "Peace be unto you".
Now, I have a 3rd way, which includes absolutely no violence. It is a bit revolutionary, and counter-intuitive for you and your followers, but here me out.
RELEASE THE ISRAELI HOSTAGES.
Yes, the ones you fail to mention in your violence-inciting "article".
Lets go back to 538 days ago. October 7th. Do you remember what happened? You probably forgot. I will remind you.
I'll remind you. Hamas (the elected government in Gaza, may I remind you) and several other terrorist groups, attacked Israeli towns near Gaza, killing, raping, burning people alive. 6,000 terrorists massacred civilians in 21 communities.
They killed 736 civilians (among them 39 children), 79 foreign nationals and 379 soldiers.
364 of these civilians were killed while attending the Nova music festival.
But it wasn't enough - they also kidnapped 250 Israeli civilians and soldiers, including 30 children.
What has started this war (not a genocide, but a war), is this attack on Israel. What will end it, is the release of all hostages held by Palestinians in Gaza, and making sure that neither Hamas nor other terrorist groups, will be a threat to Israel again.
You are basically saying it’s justifiable to slaughter innocent people (a majority of them children and women) because a militant group has hostages. Are you actually human? Don’t answer that because it’s a rhetorical question. There is absolutely no justification for Isra-hell’s response to October 7. How convenient for you to start with that date and ignore the decades of violence and displacement perpetrated by the Zionist terrorists WELL BEFORE Hamas came into existence. How about all the killing and land theft taking place in Jerusalem and the West Bank where there is no Hamas government but there is apartheid as documented by renowned human rights organizations include Israeli’s own B’Tselem, Amnesty International, the UN and Human Rights Watch? You are unfit for the human race. Go back to Europe.
So you’re basically justifying taking hostages after a terrorist attack by Hamas, PIJ, and “civilians” on October 7th that left over 1,200 men, women, elderly, and children dead and 250+ hostage. Are you actually human? Don’t answer that because it’s a rhetorical question. There is absolutely no justification for Palestinians terrorist attack on October 7. How convenient for you to start with that date and ignore the decades of violence and displacement perpetrated by the Palestinian terrorists WELL BEFORE Palestinians came into existence. Or how about the Oslo Accords that Arafat signed with zero intent to follow through on it, but happily accepting $500k for winning the Nobel Peace Prize. And you haven’t even mentioned the Protestors in Gaza against Hamas. You are unfit for the human race. Go back to the Arabian Peninsula
I'm already looking forward to the next steps for the "how" Shaun! I've known for many months that the strategies we've been trying to use won't actually end this genocide, though I keep participating in them as best I can from my tiny space in the world. I'm yearning for how to contribute to actual, meaningful change to end these atrocities. What can I do from my small, humble place of existence? I'm ready.
You are right, we have to be brave and do something to stop it and beat the evil enemy of entire humanity. There are a lot of people working on it but ignorant people are mora than us. For example in Turkey people keep buying Israeli brands as if they are not Muslim. When a police gets hurt in an event thousands of them posting it but never seen they posting Palestineian kids. Anyway Almighty Allah is with those blessed Palestineian people they will get rewarded for facing horrible things in the life.
Hey you grifter cunt, you forgot the simplest way for this war (not genocide) started by Palestinians to end: release ALL the hostages and Hamas surrenders. Then an international coalition of countries works together with Israel to establish a post Islamist Gaza and West Bank. After a few decades of letting the old generations of war mongers there die off, then and only then can a peace possibly happen. Oh and Bibi can go fuck off too.
Jazakom Allah Khair for your strong words. That's why I followed you in the first place.
Allow me to state some facts as a Muslim-Arab-Egyptian;
1. All the Arab leaders, with the Syrian current president and maube Huthies in Yemen as exception, are traitors been put by mainly the United States in the backscenes! If we got back to the Quran we find Allah-SWT- says:{ وَمَن یَقۡتُلۡ مُؤۡمِنࣰا مُّتَعَمِّدࣰا فَجَزَاۤؤُهُۥ جَهَنَّمُ خَـٰلِدࣰا فِیهَا وَغَضِبَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَیۡهِ وَلَعَنَهُۥ وَأَعَدَّ لَهُۥ عَذَابًا عَظِیمࣰا }
[Surah An-Nisāʾ: 93] and the killing here means further than by yourself or by just weapons, it also includes helping non-muslims against your Muslim brothers and sisters therefore, the true Imams of Muslims should address them as infidels and must be put down if they wouldn't retreat.
2. As a result, those dictators are doing their best and trying their hard to keep shutting mouthes speaking for Palestine from inside Arab states and to play dead-dog as you mentioned because they were promised from Israel and the United States to stay in rule if they kept like this or the resistance would be like a disease that spreads to your countries and your people would hang you which we would pretty soon insha'allah.
3. The main solution to start with is the Muslim armed forces but first to clean the Muslim especially the Arab states first then the way would be no clearer to Palestine.
If you reached this pointed, I hope you get fully recovered soon brother شفاك الله وعافاك.
All of these points are great. I will say that the Hind Rajab foundation is an amazing coalition of lawyers that they work with not only in Belgium, but internationally to bring IDF soldiers to account. There is also the group that has come out of the ICJ that is also trying to do something to put international law on Israel.
I do, however, doubt that we will get any help from Egypt. The Yeini forces would literally have to crash through borders to get to the Palestinians to help them.
I have opened up comments for all. Let's discuss it respectfully.
What about these two possibilities:
If you want to discuss in detail. Let's talk.

As-Salaam-Alaikum my friend. Thank you for this.
These are great steps. How do we get started?
Each step has a different "how" that I could begin addressing next

And I do fear that you are truly at risk for speaking out….. I am flying my flag of Palestine, and also wonder if or when I may be detained. Let them come for all of us.
Here is the good news: I don't think we've tried our best options yet.

Thank you for this well written well reasoned essay. People of conscience must make it happen.
Interesting read. I will sum it up:

Greed and Evil is like rust on a piece of steel.. the whole world is rusting away
Absolutely 💯 agree with everything written here Shaun King! Bravo! Very well thought out and Absolutely necessary to end this evil genocide.
