While BYU & NCAA officials may be taking most of the blame, the staff and coaches of Duke University should've STOPPED the match and insisted on accountability.
This is exactly why student athletes should be moving to HBCUs. And I say “student athletes” vs “black athletes” because anyone who truly abhorres racism shouldn’t be attending colleges that do nothing about it. This was a hate crime, and it should’ve been treated accordingly — those making hateful statements should’ve been immediately removed and arrested. But when that didn’t happen, not only did this student’s team officials let her down, her own teammates did nothing either… that’s what’s disgusts me the most. How dare they continue playing and not support their teammate.
