It is both inspiring & mind blowing to me that you are making The North Star happen while being in such pain. I pray the surgery allows you to live a relatively pain-free life. You deserve that. I have neuropathy & tremors and am grateful that medication helps control both of those conditions... at least for now.
I had surgery for degenerative cervicall myelopathy. The spine was compressing my cord. 1. MUCH of my pain stopped instantly post-op! It was mind-blowing. 2. It took two years to be able to push past pain for simple tasks. 3. I'm a 74 yo lifelong learner. I've tried meditation, yoga, somatic work, massage, chiropractic, all the things. Take the damn meds. Rest. Ice. Heat. Whatever. Chronic pain OWNS you. It ain't no mind over matter thing, no matter what anyone says. 4. My daughter has tethered cord syndrome, resulting in multiple surgeries, exquisite pain, and slowly fading quality of life and, frankly, will to live. She was a critical care social worker, solo world traveler& climate activist (arrested multiple times! ✊🏼) but ended up in her recliner, on meds, her world shrinking. 2008, we were told: nothing more to be done. And then 4 years ago they came up witha different surgical strategy. So at age 50 she had her spinal column shortened. She lost almost 2 inches of height, but got her life back! She's titrating off pain meds and getting out, enjoying life. Not pain free, dramatically improved. My point being: be gentle with yourself body. Aleopathic medicine and Eastern ways can both be taken advantage of. Be sure you have a top-notch neurosurgeon specializing in your specific type of spine issue. As salaam malaika. (Sorry about the spelling!) 🤲🏼☮️🕉☪️
