🟥 Abdul Jawad Al-Ghalban was 12 years old. He was starved to death in Gaza today.

His body was skin and bones. Curled up on a medical table. He didn’t die in an airstrike. He was starved to death by the blockade — a weapon disguised as policy.

🧒🏽 His name was Abdul Jawad Al-Ghalban

He was just 12 years old.

He was starved to death today — not by fate or famine — but by Israel’s deliberate siege on Gaza.

He died from malnutrition, hunger, and a severe deficiency in proteins, milk, and calcium — essentials every child needs to grow. His body had simply run out of time. It gave out.

And when you see him — and I hope you do — you’ll understand why I’m writing this with grief, rage, and fire.

He looks like a skeleton wrapped in skin.
He’s curled up on a hospital table, his limbs shriveled, his face sunken.

He looks like the body of a child who should’ve died weeks ago — but kept going because some part of him still hoped to live.

The video of Abdul was filmed by Palestinian journalist Sameer Al Boji, and we honor his courage in making sure this child would not be forgotten.

💭 And I have to ask: Before the genocide, what were his dreams?

What did Abdul love?

Was he learning to swim?
Did he kick a soccer ball barefoot in the streets?
Did he tell jokes to his siblings?
Did he ever talk about what he wanted to be when he grew up?

We’ll never know.
Because before he got the chance, he was starved.
Not just neglected.
Targeted.

The world closed the door on his future — and opened the gates of suffering instead.

🍽️ Gaza’s blockade is starving children to death — one by one

Abdul didn’t miss a few meals.
He endured months of hunger.
He lived with the pain of a body slowly collapsing from within.
And finally, it was too much.

This is not rare.
This is happening every day now.

Children like Abdul — and babies, and disabled people, and the elderly — are being starved to death by design.

📜 This is a war crime

Let’s be clear.

Under international law, this is not a “tragedy.” It is not “complicated.” It is not the result of chaos.

  • The Fourth Geneva Convention prohibits the starvation of civilians as a method of warfare

  • Article 8 of the Rome Statute defines it as a prosecutable war crime

  • Collective punishment — especially targeting children — is explicitly banned

And yet Israel continues.
And the United States continues to fund and protect the siege.
And the world continues to watch in silence.

😡 We are watching children die on our phones

On iPhones.
On Androids.
We scroll past their bones.
We see them in hospital beds.
We hear their parents sobbing.

And still — nothing.

No ceasefire.
No mass outrage.
Just another name, another body, another post.

It is breaking my heart.
And it is breaking my brain.

🛡️ But we will not be silent here

His name is Abdul Jawad Al-Ghalban.
He was starved to death today in Gaza.
He should be alive.

You will not hear his name in the halls of Congress.
You will not see his face in The Washington Post.

But you will see him here — because we refuse to let this be normal.
