These monuments are the physical representation of the firm hold that white supremacy has on this country. If you live in a community with such statues/monuments, please be vocal about your disdain and support any/all efforts to have them removed. I say all that to say that it won’t change the minds of folks who are racist/prejudice. That will take long term, consistent, and visible rebukes of racism and white supremacy.
The article is correct but needs to expand Trump supporters to include a much broader population. Remember that a majority of women supported him in 16. I live in Albany NY and racism is alive and well here in both the uneducated and educated. To quote Trump, “sad”.
