One lesson Shaun has implemented throughout his life and strived to teach others, is that it is hard to recognize a historical moment when you are living in it, but we all must try.
Last night, history was made.
NBA team the Milwaukee Bucks made the courageous decision to strike their playoff game in solidarity with victims of police brutality, causing a domino effect of teams across every sport to follow suit. Bucks players did not tell anyone about their decision prior to the game itself, keenly aware of the chaos it would cause, and the many voices that would attempt to talk them out of it.
Milwaukee is less than an hour away from the city of Kenosha, where Jacob Blake was shot in the back seven times by police in front of his three young sons. This gross display of brutality has sparked nationwide protests, adding fuel to the fight for the Black Lives Matter movement, which has seen a huge uptick in support since the police killing of George Floyd.
In today’s episode, Shaun breaks down this historic moment and what it says about where we are as a nation.
