Kim Gardner is my hero. She's the lead prosecutor for St. Louis and has more courage in a day than most of us will have in our lifetime. Because of that, she has now become one of the single most hated Black women in America to the conservative white establishment. Today let's hear from Kim directly and plan on supporting her in every way we can.

St. Louis is one of America’s greatest cities, and one of the most troubled. Plagued with high crime rates only propelled by systemic poverty, it is routinely listed as one of the most dangerous cities in the country.
Kim Gardner is the lead prosecutor of St. Louis, one of few Black women to occupy this extremely powerful position. She is instituting radical reform in her city, completely reimagining how they treat crime and punishment by implementing alternative forms of justice that focus on rehabilitating instead of incarcerating.
She has greatly shifted how people, especially those coming from disadvantaged circumstances, are treated within the criminal justice system, and for that, she has received multiple threats against her life.
From being openly mocked by the police force, to receiving letters from white supremacists threatening to lynch her, Kim has faced every possible obstacle during her time in office. Yet, she continues to push forward and provide the aid her city so desperately needs.
Shaun has a candid conversation with Kim and outlines ways we can help her in her mission on today’s episode of The Breakdown.
