Some 60 years ago, I graduated from a Methodist college, founded by a black denomination , CME, (C for Colored until 1954, now for Christian) that educated more Baptist than CME’s! I knew Dr Joseph Jackson, president of the NBC for 49 years. My maternal family were members and pastors in the AME and Baptist. Simmons College is probably smaller than Berea. That board chair should have challenged all of the Baptist members in all the various conventions, including Full Gospel to match that million dollar gift 10 to 1 or even $100 to one. The schools endowment could be increased! I have the first $100 and it is in honor of my first music inspirer and my late brother’ teacher in the 1940’s Miss Lucy Campbell who became Mrs. in the 1960’s! Hurry up! My CME alma mater is call for my 60 years’ contribution!,(s)
