When the Phrase "Democracy is Under Threat" is a Literal Call for Violence Against Election Workers.
A recent report by Reuters.com uncovered multiple, non-anonymous Trump supporters that threatened election workers with violence in various states. None of whom have been charged.
Jamie Fialkin, a former stand-up comedian from Arizona left a message for Arizona Secretary of State Katie Hobbs, warning her that she would “hang from a fucking tree” for participating in “treason” after Donald Trump loss the electoral vote in the state last year.
Jeff Yeager, a California-based electrician also contacted Secretary Hobbs’ office, leaving a message threatening her execution.
Eric Pickett, a youth worker based in Utah sent Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold a Facebook message accusing her of coordinating a voting security breach and warning her that he knew where she slept, that she should be very afraid and that he hoped she’d die.
Ross Miller, a Georgia-based real estate investor left a voicemail for Fulton County Elections Director Richard Barron, advising him to run and declaring that Barron would be “tarred and feathered,” as a result of what Miller believed was voter fraud after Joe Biden won the electoral college vote over Trump in Georgia.
None of these threats have met the legal statute for criminal prosecution. All of the people who have made these threats are unabashed and unapologetic in their admissions of making the threats.
