đĄđĄđĄ (VIDEO) ICE Just Shot and Killed an Unarmed Poet and Mother of 3 Named Renee Nicole Good. She Was Born and Raised in the United States.
I am livid. And you should be too.
A woman is dead in Minneapolis because a federal immigration agent decided to shoot instead of de-escalate.
Her name was Renee Nicole Good. She was 37 years old, a poet, a mother, andâby every report availableâan American citizen who was not the target of any law enforcement investigation. And yet ICE officers shot her in the head in the middle of a residential street, in front of a crowd, within seconds.
Before I break down what the video shows and why this was completely avoidable, I need to ask you from the heart to become a member today. I keep this work free for the worldâfor readers in Gaza, for students in public schools, for families living in deep poverty, for elders on fixed incomesâbecause a smaller circle of people who can afford it chooses to carry the cost. Now, letâs tell the truth.
What happened, according to the video and officials on the record
CNBC reports that videos posted online show ICE officers pulling up to a residential street and ordering the driver to get out of her SUV. The video shows agents yelling commands, an agent grabbing the driver-side door handle and reaching inside, and thenâwithin less than three secondsâan officer shoots as the vehicle moves forward. CNBC reports the agent fired at least three shots toward the driverâs side window and the vehicle then crashed into another car. Reuters photos show federal agents holding the area afterward. CNBC reports she was shot in the head, and that the FBI and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension are investigating. Minneapolis Police Chief Brian OâHara said his department secured the crime scene and that the state bureau will examine whether any state laws were violated.
The Department of Homeland Securityâs leadership immediately tried to frame her killing as âdomestic terrorism,â alleging she âweaponizedâ her vehicle. Secretary Kristi Noem claimed agents were âstuck in the snowâ and that she âattacked them.â
But thatâs where the propaganda collapses.
CNBC reports there is no footage supporting Noemâs claim that agents were pushing their vehicle out of snow right before the shooting, and that the street was clear. Minnesota Governor Tim Walz said he had seen the video and told people not to believe the propaganda machine. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey called DHSâs narrative âbulls---â and âa garbage narrative,â saying plainly: âThis was an agent recklessly using power that resulted in somebody dying.â
Let me put my professional lens on this.
I have studied over 750 police shootings in deep detail. I know the difference between a genuine, unavoidable deadly threat and a manufactured âthreatâ created by bad tactics and panic.
And everything about what I saw hereâespecially in slow motionâreads like the latter.
Why this was avoidable, in plain language
A car can become a weapon. Thatâs true. But not every moving car is an imminent deadly threat requiring bullets to the head.
This is the key distinction: officers are trained not to create the danger they claim forced them to shoot.
And what the video showsâagain, based on the footage and CNBCâs descriptionâis a textbook sequence of unnecessary escalation:
The officers approach a vehicle that is blocking the road. Instead of stepping back, creating distance, and using time, one agent reaches for the door and reaches into the car. Another officer positions himself near the front of the vehicle. Then, in a split second, shots are fired.
That is a choice.
There are basic tactical principles that prevent exactly this outcome:
Distance is safety. If you fear a vehicle, you donât stand in front of it.
Time is safety. If you have a crowd, you donât rush into the most chaotic close-contact situation unless there is an imminent threat.
Containment is safety. If a person is in a car and not actively attacking anyone, you create space and block routesârather than physically inserting yourself into the driverâs door area and then claiming you were forced to shoot.
And now we have a dead woman, three shots, and a federal propaganda machine scrambling to justify it.
Governor Walz said what a lot of people are feeling: this is the result of âgovernance designed to generate fear, headlines and conflict,â and he called it âgoverning by reality TV.â Thatâs not rhetoric. Thatâs an accurate description of what happens when law enforcement becomes a political theater operation.
Who Renee wasâand why that matters without being cynical
Local reporting identified the woman as Renee Nicole Good, with her mother, Donna Ganger, describing her as compassionate and kind. CNBC cites the Star Tribuneâs identification and includes the motherâs reaction: âShe was probably terrified.â
Renee was not, by the reporting you shared, the subject of an investigation. She wasnât named as a target. And the video itself, as described, does not show a person brandishing a weapon or harming anyone before shots are fired.
So why does this story matter even more than the tragic details?
Because Renee is the kind of victim America usually needs before it pays attention.
A white woman. An American citizen. A mother. A poet. Someone many people will instinctively see as âsafeâ and ânormal.â
And now sheâs dead because federal agents escalated a street confrontation into lethal force.
I want to say this carefully: Iâm not saying Reneeâs life matters more than anyone elseâs. It doesnât. But I am saying America has a history of not caring until violence touches a certain kind of person. Black and brown communities have been screaming about avoidable killings for generations. Immigrant communities have been screaming about terrorizing raids and intimidation for years. The difference is the national media and political class often act like itâs âcomplicatedâ when the victims are the usual targets.
This time, the lie is harder to sell.
And thatâs why DHS is throwing âdomestic terrorismâ at the wall like paint. Theyâre trying to frighten the public into siding with the gun before the public watches the tape slowly and asks the obvious question: Why didnât they just step back?
The civil rights mirror nobody wants to look into
You said something earlier that landed with me hard, and it belongs here too: the behaviorâthis entitlement to terrorize, intimidate, and then have the state protect itâechoes the ugliest parts of the Civil Rights Movement.
Back then, racist white men terrorized Black Americans and Freedom Riders, and the police âkept orderâ by protecting the terrorizers. The story was always rewritten so the victims became âagitatorsâ and the aggressors became âdefenders.â
Listen to the language right now.
Trump called the woman screaming on video âobviously a professional agitator.â DHS called Reneeâs alleged behavior âdomestic terrorism.â They arenât just describing events. Theyâre trying to set a moral frame where federal violence is automatically righteous and civilian resistance is automatically criminal.
Thatâs the same script.
And when Mayor Frey stands up and says âget the fâ out of Minneapolis,â heâs saying what too many local leaders are afraid to say: this isnât âsafety.â This is occupation behavior inside an American cityâfederal force, heavy weapons, intimidation, and now a dead civilian.
What should happen next (and what must not happen)
There must be a full independent investigation, and it cannot be a whitewash. The FBI and Minnesota BCA are involved, according to CNBC. Good. Thatâs the minimum.
But accountability has to include more than âreviewing policy.â
It must include:
Public release of the full unedited video from every angle available
Identification of the shooter and the command structure on scene
A clear statement of whether anyone attempted medical aid immediately after shots were fired
A determination of whether federal agents violated any state laws and whether charges will follow
A review of the entire âOperation Metro Surgeâ posture that created this confrontation in the first place
And we have to resist the other trap too: Governor Walz warned people not to give them âa show.â Heâs right. They will use violence at protests as a justification for more violence. Protest peacefully, but do not be silent. Silence is what they count on.
The moral truth
Renee did not have to die.
This was not a ticking time bomb. This was a street confrontation escalated into lethal force by federal agents who believed they could do whatever they wanted and then label the dead as âterrorists.â
Thatâs not law enforcement. Thatâs state violence.
And the video is going to force a lot of Americans to finally admit something: when a system is built on fear and domination, it eventually kills people it was never supposed to touch. It eventually eats its own cover story.
If you want me to keep writing with this kind of clarityâstaying on the receipts, watching the tape, calling out propaganda, and naming what is happening in plain languageâI need you with me. Iâm committing full-time to this work in 2026, and that means building a real team and real capacity to keep up with moments like thisâbecause the truth is moving fast and the lies are moving faster.
Love and appreciate each of you.

This is what happens when you commit evil all over the world you eventually commit that same evil against your own people back at home.
Two of the three shots fired, he was off to the side of the vehicle. And the courts have consistently ruled that police officers may not use deadly force against a vehicle when they have a clear opportunity to move out of its path, and the vehicle was not being used as a weapon against others.
I say this as a retired police officer of 28 years, my last five years an internal affairs supervisor. This shooting was 100% unjustified. These ICE thugs are completely lawless out there.
