đ„ UN Commissioner Declares Israel Has Committed 4 Types of Genocide in Gaza and Left It Uninhabitable
No genocide has ever been as meticulously documented and shown to the entire world - yet still denied by so many world powers

They said the word
In a moment that history will circle in red, Navi Pillay, chair of the UNâs independent Commission of Inquiry, stood before the General Assembly and said the plain thing: Israel has committed âfour genocidal actsâ in Gazaâwith specific intent to destroy Palestinians in Gaza âas such.â She added that Israelâs President, Prime Minister, and former Defense Minister have âincited the commission of genocide.â
For two years weâve watched Gaza made ânearly uninhabitableâ; weâve heard senior officials endorse deportation, settlements, annexation. Yesterday the UN stopped tiptoeing around the vocabulary. It called the crime by its name.
This is not a new argument. It is a new line in the record. Let me explainâŠ
From Gaza to the West Bank: the same architecture
The Commission did not silo this to Gaza. In the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, it found policies since October 2023âpaired with explicit and implicit support for violent settlersâshow intent to forcibly transfer Palestinians, expand Israeli Jewish civilian presence, and annex the majority of the territory to block any Palestinian self-determination. That is not security; it is territorial redesign by force.
Gaza is the template. The West Bank is the roll-out.
Your screen already knows this is true
Youâve seen what they described. You saw Jabaliaâa city of 120,000âreduced to lunar gray. Not a neighborhood. A city. If Hartford or Ann Arbor or Lafayette or Billings vanished like that, we would not call it âa strike.â We would call it a national annihilation event.
You saw two Palestinian eldersâHaj Nadi Marouf and Haj Ali Maroufâstripped and humiliated amid the ruins of Beit Lahiya. Their family says soldiers used them as human shields, denied them food and water for three days, and then murdered them. That is not security. That is a cluster of war crimes.
The UNâs legal analysis now mirrors what our eyes already recognized: this is not âexcess.â This is policy.
What the Genocide Convention means (so we stop arguing about the dictionary)
When the UN says âfour genocidal acts,â it is applying Article II of the Convention. In Gaza, the Commission says Israel committed these four:
Killing members of the group.
Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group.
Deliberately inflicting conditions of life calculated to bring about the groupâs physical destruction in whole or in part.
Imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group.
The fifth act in the treatyâforcibly transferring childrenâis the one not listed among the four for Gaza. The legal threshold for genocide is acts + intent. The Commission says both are present.
The duty that follows the word
Saying âgenocideâ without acting is performance.
The Commission chair was explicit: support the International Criminal Court and use universal jurisdictionâthat means any state can prosecute suspects, including dual nationals, when the worldâs courts are stalled. If the Security Council is paralyzed, the General Assembly must move under âUniting for Peace.â Sanctions are not radical. Arms embargoes are not radical. They are the floor of law.
This is also the moment for domestic clarity: American and European officials who keep signing export licenses and sending spare parts are not neutral actors. They are material contributors to a campaign the UN has just called genocide.
âCeasefireâ canât unbomb the bones
Yes, a fragile ceasefire and hostages exchanges bring real human relief. But as Pillay put it, they do not undo the devastation. You cannot unstarve a child who already died. You cannot unbury a family under a home that doesnât exist. You cannot restore a city by pretending it was a battle and not a bulldozer made of bombs.
The task ahead is twofold: stop the crime and name the criminals.
Objection & Answer (so no one hides behind clichés)
âGenocide is a political word.â
No. It is a legal term of art with elements. The Commissionâs findings rest on the Genocide Convention, not a hashtag.
âIntent is impossible to prove.â
Intent is proven every day in courtâby patterns, policies, public statements, foreseeable consequences. When officials speak of deportation, annexation, no civilians, flattening, the intent is not mysterious.
âBut Hamasââ
War crimes, if thatâs what you think Hamas committed, by one party do not license genocide by another. That is the entire point of law: to restrain retaliation and protect civilians precisely when it is hardest.
What justice looks like in practice
Open the strike logs and target folders. Preserve satellite chronologies. Identify commanders who authorized area bombardment. Secure hospital records and morgue registers. Take sworn testimony from the survivors of Jabalia, from the families of Haj Nadi and Haj Ali, from every mother who watched a child starve behind an aid truck turned around at a checkpoint. Then prosecuteâin The Hague if possible, under universal jurisdiction if necessary.

That to me is extremely alarming. What does the colonizer West think it's going to do with this "uninhabitable" place they've made? This IS Palestinian Land. Israel and every single one of the countries that aided in this genocide and destruction MUST pay to give Palestinians the ability to rebuild. And I do not mean those countries will do the rebuild. Palestinians will take that money and rebuild as they want.
