Her name is Maryam Abdul Aziz Mahmoud Dawas.
She is 9 years old.
And she can no longer walk.

She was not born with this condition.
She wasn’t in a car crash.
She wasn’t paralyzed.
She wasn’t injured in a bombing — though she has lived through many.

Maryam has lost the ability to walk because she has been intentionally, methodically, starved.

From 25 kilograms to 10.

From 55 pounds to 22.

That’s how much of her body has disappeared under the Israeli siege.
She now weighs less than a toddler.

According to doctors at the hospital in Gaza City, Maryam has no organic disease.
There’s no virus. No chronic illness.
Just hunger. Just malnutrition. Just man-made starvation.

Her family is pleading for evacuation.

For nutrition. For mercy. For help.

They fled to a shelter hoping to survive.
And now they watch their daughter lose strength in her legs.
Not because of injury. But because her body has no fuel left to move.

How many Maryams will it take?
How many children must we watch shrink into nothing?
How many before someone — anyone — acts?
