There are probably few allies of Donald Trump that are more smug, brazen, flippant, arrogantly toxic and committed to white supremacy than Steve Bannon. The former strategist in Trump’s White House is emblematic with white nationalism/supremacy and has used his bully pulpit for years, first as a media head of Breitbart News, then as a presidential advisor, and most recently as a conservative radio show host, to espouse authoritarian beliefs and display an iron will of rallying the far-right to seize control of government by any means.
After weeks of non-compliance with the federal government regarding his role in the coordination of the January 6 insurrection, Bannon turned himself into the FBI earlier today on charges of criminal contempt of Congress after he refused to cooperate with the House select committee investigating the attack on the Capitol. Prior to turning himself in, Bannon found time to do a promo for his radio show where he advised his supporters to not “take their eye off the ball,” along with issuing a promise to “take down the Biden regime.”
