Before the metro stations reopened, my residential experience in the DMV had been restricted to where I could drive and find overpriced parking. Since the station near my place has opened, I’ve hopped the train a few times to get a feel of where I’m headed and will be doing so more in the future. The metro system in the D.C. area has been greatly compromised over the past couple of weeks as 60 percent of its fleet had been removed from the transit system due to safety concerns. Yet in spite of a slightly longer delay in the train schedule, I decided to take a walking tour of the historic U Street in D.C. on a mildly cool, clear sky day.
