NYC Pride Through the Eyes of Those Who Found Joy in Spite of America Being America...
Amid the release of some of the most shockingly conservative Supreme Court decisions in decades, the longstanding tradition of New York City pride persisted.
For as long as I have lived in Brooklyn, I have gone to Pride. Whether you’re a part of the LGBTQ+ community, an ally, or just a native New Yorker - Pride is essentially one big block party welcoming all who find themselves swept into the festivities. It is one of the most wildly fun days of the year, and a huge reason why millions from across the world are drawn to this city.
Yet, amidst the recent onslaught of shockingly conservative Supreme Court decisions, including the historic overturning of Roe V. Wade, I feared the mood at this year’s pride celebrations would be dampened.
In fact, it was quite the opposite.
