The Ceasefire Deal Netanyahu Just Killed

The revelation did not come from Hamas. It did not come from the United Nations. It came from Haaretz, one of Israel’s leading newspapers, quoting Egyptian officials who were directly inside the negotiations.

For weeks, this arrangement had been referred to internationally as the “Witkoff Plan,” supposedly floated by an American intermediary. In reality, it was written in Netanyahu’s own office.

The terms were straightforward: Hamas would release ten living hostages and return the bodies of eighteen more. In exchange, there would be a sixty-day negotiating window to resolve the fate of everyone else. Netanyahu himself had previously said that a comprehensive deal was impossible and that a phased agreement was the only path forward.

Egypt pressed Hamas to accept. They did. According to Haaretz, an Egyptian official phoned Yair Lapid, Israel’s opposition leader, and said: “What you call the Witkoff plan and what we call the Netanyahu plan, because it was his idea from the very start — the whole idea of a partial deal, the return of 10 living hostages and 18 dead ones and the 60 days of negotiations about the rest, it was all dictated by Netanyahu.”

The Egyptian continued: “We went with it to Hamas, made them sign it, and since then Netanyahu has disappeared.”

Lapid asked what “disappeared” meant. The Egyptian official answered: “Exactly what it sounds like. It’s been two weeks and we haven’t been able to reach his office. Your negotiating team tells us they were told to sit at home and wait. And now we read in the media that your prime minister rejects a phased deal and insists on a comprehensive one. So we’re wondering, are you aware that Netanyahu decided to kill his own plan?”

That single exchange, documented by Haaretz, is one of the most stunning revelations of this war. Netanyahu wrote the plan. Hamas agreed. Netanyahu killed it.

Proof From Israeli Media

Haaretz made clear what the world now knows: this was Netanyahu’s design from the beginning. As they reported, “What you call the Witkoff plan and what we call the Netanyahu plan… it was all dictated by Netanyahu.”

Think about that. An Israeli newspaper is reporting that Hamas accepted a plan authored by Israel’s prime minister, only for that same prime minister to walk away from it. This is not speculation. This is not rumor. This is Israeli media itself exposing Netanyahu’s sabotage.

And this is not the first time. As Haaretz reminded its readers, Netanyahu did the same thing in June 2024 with another plan presented by then–U.S. President Joe Biden. He backed away at the last minute, until the election of Donald Trump forced his hand. As they wrote: “If Donald Trump hadn’t been elected six months later, forcing Netanyahu to agree to the release of 33 hostages, they would still be there.”

This is Netanyahu’s pattern. He builds hope with one side of his mouth, then destroys it with the other.

Sisters and brothers, this matters because the propaganda machine will continue to sell you a lie. They will say Hamas refuses peace. They will say Israel’s government is fighting for the hostages. But Haaretz — Israel’s own leading paper — has laid it bare. Hamas said yes. Netanyahu said no. And not just no — he said no to himself.

That reveals the deeper truth: this genocide is not about the hostages. It is not about peace. It is about endless violence. Netanyahu has no intention of ending it.

Netanyahu’s Pattern of Sabotage

This moment is not an outlier. It is the clearest continuation of Netanyahu’s life’s work: destroying any chance for peace the moment it becomes real.

In the 1990s, during the Oslo Accords, he worked relentlessly to undermine Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin’s negotiations with Yasser Arafat. He inflamed the far right until Rabin was assassinated by an Israeli extremist, a killing that many Israelis still believe Netanyahu helped incite.

In the 2000s, when the Arab League introduced the Arab Peace Initiative — offering Israel recognition from every Arab state in exchange for withdrawal from occupied territory — Netanyahu dismissed it outright. He didn’t negotiate. He didn’t consider. He spat on it.

When President Barack Obama asked for a freeze on illegal settlements as a condition for talks, Netanyahu mocked him. When President Donald Trump offered a “Deal of the Century,” Netanyahu twisted it into justification for annexation. Every time peace was possible, Netanyahu burned it down.

This is who Netanyahu is. He survives by prolonging conflict. Peace would bring accountability. War keeps him in power.

International Law — Mocked and Defiled

Under the Geneva Conventions, leaders are obligated to pursue ceasefires and protect civilians when humanitarian catastrophe is unfolding. Rejecting your own ceasefire, after the opposing side has signed it, is not just cynical politics. It is a war crime.

But here is the real outrage: Israel and the United States openly mock international law. They refuse to follow it. They violate it every day in Gaza. And when the International Criminal Court filed charges against Israeli leaders for war crimes, the United States didn’t stand up for law. It attacked it. Washington sanctioned the very judges and prosecutors who dared to charge Israeli officials.

What does it mean when the institutions created to restrain war crimes are punished for trying to restrain them? It means international law has collapsed into theater. It means Israel kills with impunity, and America bankrolls the crime.

Gaza at the Center

Family, we must never let this get buried in coalition gossip about Yair Lapid or Benny Gantz. While Netanyahu disappears from negotiations, Palestinian children are disappearing into graves. While he hosts dinners for settlement leaders, families in Gaza are eating grass. While he arranges flights for ultra-Orthodox pilgrims, babies in Khan Younis are dying for lack of baby formula.
