Let's all support our brilliant writer and editor, Donney Rose, in his next endeavor, OK?
We literally could not have made it these past few years without him. If you can, please chip in to support his Substack, and let him know you are in his corner. THANK YOU!
Donney Rose is one of my favorite writers in the world. Long before he ever joined our team as a writer, and eventually as our Content Editor, I loved reading anything he put out. And for the past 2+ years, you have too. Donney has been an absolute force of nature for us - writing and editing HUNDREDS of brilliant, sharp, insightful, informative, witty pieces - all while mentoring my daughter Kendi, a writer and poet herself. He’s also my friend and brother.
Today is Donney’s last day as a full-time staffer for us here at The North Star - and it would mean the world to both me and him, if you’d please consider supporting his next endeavor, Observations in Blackness. The truth is, Black-owned media just doesn’t get the support it needs and deserves. And Black writers that are forced to work inside of the constraints of white spaces rarely have the freedom to truly speak their mind. That’s why we launched The North Star - and it’s why I am hopeful that you will support Donney’s future work. It’s already so damn good - and will only get better.
It all started with a simple email exchange from me and Donney nearly 4 years ago. And ultimately led to him writing some of the most important pieces in the country during some of the most tumultuous times we’ve ever seen.
Thank you all for believing in us over the past 4 years and for giving Donney the support he deserves. Please support his next steps here, OK?
