I'm furious!

Shaun King's avatar

We all should be.

It's appalling the asshats who voted for this imbecile don't even understand their own demise and continue cheering. 🤬

The scale of cruelty and depravity is horrifying.

Shaun King's avatar

It is indeed.

Aamir Razak's avatar

Indeed, it is unconscionable and wrong beyond words

In addiition to the human kills in Iran, the land, earth, air, water and all other species of life are dying! Let us not forget the infinite damage to all sources of LIFE!

I don’t know what to say. I wake up in a rage because I have to get up and go to work every day and do my job to make a living or else I lose my job. While politicians are going out of their way to abuse their power and avoid accountability. Or they are worthless and complicit. They keep their jobs.

I have health conditions that depend on me having health insurance. But I can’t even get my medications dependably every month because in America we have recurring ongoing shortages. We’re too busy destroying the planet— literally destroying the planet— to correct the issues our citizens face. Because “budget”. But we can afford war to burn children in every way imaginable in 2026.

I genuinely wake up in a rage and cry on my way home because I know it just starts over tomorrow where I make the bare minimum to get by. And not even enough to get by!!!! Because we don’t have affordable anything!!!!!! And as someone in my twenties I do not believe there’s a future for my generation. It’s not going to stop with what America does to the rest of the world. This can blow up at any moment.

I look at my home every day, where I’ve lived all my life, and I fear it will be flattened with my family buried beneath it. Or now (!!!) maybe it will be covered in acid rain. I can’t help but think of peoples’ pets. How would they survive this. America has nasty streets today as it is now I have to worry about acid rain.

My heart and my spirit don’t just ache it’s like a wound that never gets the chance to heal. It’s indescribable and my words will never be enough to express it.

I’m so sorry Iran.

Shaun King's avatar

I feel very much the same

Aamir Razak's avatar

Agreed Whitney I share those sentiments as well, and I am sorry for the difficulties you are going through health wise and otherwise. I feel hurt too on a spiritual level to see all this senseless slaughter and destruction and the further disparity between the oligarchs and empire managers here, and everyday people just trying to do the best they can for themselves and their loved ones. It is really painful to read articles each day or see videos of the ongoing genocides and this totally abhorrent, unnecessary war of "liberation". My small hope is that people can unite and do something to stop this madness before it's too late

Whitney's avatar

That is the hope I hold onto as well. Thank you. That’s the greatest power I believe we have is to persist and remain optimistic in the face of these crimes against humanity. There is hope in the fact that I do see the world united more than I’ve ever seen before because of all that is happening despite what some leaders are doing. I am grateful for that. Thank you for sharing.

I feel the same way. And it will stay this way until we remove this system.

I call on my government and I call on the higher powers and the day justice comes is not soon enough. I agree completely.

I heard something yesterday: “in criminal justice we work to be two steps ahead of the people who actively participate in crimes because they are actively trying to figure out how to evade accountability and authority.” It was something very close to that but not exactly. And I resonated with this. We are in a hole and we need to dig out of it and get to be beyond two steps ahead of this. That’s what law and order once was.

We’ve allowed diabolical criminals to run the world and evade accountability. As well as dismantle international law. We must rebuild and recreate what law and justice even means. It’s difficult and they will continue to fight desperately to avoid it and to destroy our efforts. But if we let our efforts fail it will be devastating. More devastating than we can imagine because they break a new record of evil every day. More often than not by the hour.

There is only so much self care that can meditate this. But I appreciate you. Take care.

There’s been so much rubbish about the usa being ‘the land of the free’ over the years. It’s actually the land of the immoral, greedy, and soulless. Although that doesn’t include the Indigenous Americans, or the descendants of slaves who were forced there. Why don’t those in the usa military refuse their despicable orders? They’re supposed to uphold your constitution aren’t they? So why don’t they do that for once?

Shaun King's avatar

Now the whole world knows this.

Aamir Razak's avatar

agreed Ms. Lovell. Sadly that phrase sounds good on paper, but the reality is far different. Racism and prejudice and discrimination abound, and the leaders don't represent the interests of the people, and the oligarchs and empire managers only seek to increase their profits and influence and power, and everyone else pays the price

This is what Netanyahu did in Gaza

Lexine's avatar

Netanyahu and the United States Government and our tax dollars did this in Gaza.

Tricia Cassel-Gerard's avatar

This is eye wateringly stupid and irresponsible. A true war crime and unforgivable. A vast humanitarian effort needs to be made to cap the damage rescue the people and look after the injured.

Aamir Razak's avatar

These poor people don't deserve this, no human being does. You don't liberate a people by making their land unlivable, nor do you free them by slaughtering young, innocent schoolgirls, civilians, their leaders or fomenting rebellion and violent protest. The darkened skies due to the oil and the fears of acid rain remind me of the asteroid that wiped out the dinosaurs or something from a science-fiction film, it is so discouraging to see such apocalyptic scenes in our own world

Anne Pearson's avatar

Trump and Netanyahu are committing monstrous sins that will be unforgivable for generations to come. Those of us who are unable to stop him tremble with rage at the civil crimes being rained on innocent citizens in Iran. Some one should take revenge on these two monsters who are mistakenly called leaders. I bow my head in shame that we have not yet prevented these crimes.

I’m running out of words Shaun. Literally. When an English lit major, a songwriter, a sarcastic NY’er, runs out of words but still has plenty of F bombs…wtf do I really do with all this anger. I have good friends, good people in Israel. Good friends, good people in Turkiye. A son in Minneapolis. WTF, Shaun. I’ll cry later. Now I just want to stop it.

It's not like this isn't who the US has been for all the years of my life. Why does it have to take such levels of depravity for people to wake up!?

I am so upset for all Iranians, especially the fools who want Reza Pahlavi to be back in power. Is this destruction of your country worth it for such a mania for this descendant of a failed dictator? What is wrong with reform and gradual democratisation from within? Why give the US the sugar-coating it needed to destroy your fellow Iranians' lives.
