Family, I read words today that made my blood boil. Israel’s Finance Minister, Bezalel Smotrich, stood at a real estate conference in Tel Aviv and called Gaza a “real estate bonanza.”
Think about that. After nearly two years of bombardment and mass death, after neighborhoods were reduced to rubble, a man entrusted with Israel’s finances described Gaza as an investment opportunity.
He bragged that the demolition — the slaughter and devastation — was already complete, and that all that remained was construction. He even said he was in talks with the United States on how to divide up the land.
This should be THE HEADLINE in media outlets around the world.

The Mask Slips
Smotrich’s words were not a gaffe. They were a confession. He said, “The demolition, the first stage in the city’s renewal, we have already done. Now we just need to build.”
What he calls demolition is actually mass death. What he calls renewal is colonization. He is admitting openly that Gaza’s destruction was never an accident of war — it was preparation for profit.
This is what Palestinians have warned for generations: each bomb is not only violence, it is a step toward dispossession. Kill the people, erase the homes, seize the land, and sell it.
When a finance minister speaks of Gaza like a prospectus, the moral lie collapses. The goal was never safety. The goal is the land.
The Colonial Playbook
Few books shaped me like Dr. Walter Rodney’s How Europe Underdeveloped Africa. Rodney taught us that underdevelopment was not an accident — it was designed. Power engineered poverty for the colonized and wealth for the colonizer.
He wrote about the Berlin Conference of 1884–1885, where European nations literally sat around a table — without a single African present — and divided the continent like slices of pie. It was called the Scramble for Africa.
Rodney showed that Africa wasn’t simply conquered; it was commodified, priced, and sold. People were treated as obstacles to land and profit.
Smotrich is speaking in that same tradition. Gaza, to him, is not a home; it’s a parcel. Palestinians are not a people; they’re “removed” in the first stage of “renewal.”
And remember: Rodney himself was assassinated by a car bomb at just 38. He was killed for exposing how colonialism profits from blood. His warning echoes now: colonial profiteering always ends in violence and dispossession.
Trump’s “Riviera”
It’s not only Smotrich. President Trump has spoken of turning Gaza into an American-controlled “Riviera.” As reported, his administration has weighed plans to put Gaza under U.S. control for years and pay a quarter of the population to relocate.
That is not reconstruction. That is ethnic cleansing — a genocidal removal with cash on the table. Colonialism dressed up as “development.”
Family, America’s complicity is not just financing bombs. It’s dreaming up beachfront management after the killing is done.
Violence → Land Grab → Profit
Prime Minister Netanyahu publicly denies resettlement plans. But his far-right ministers — Smotrich, Ben-Gvir, and others — advance them openly. Now Smotrich says he’s already negotiating with the United States about dividing Gaza.
Genocide is not the end of the story. Genocide is the beginning of a land deal. Violence clears the ground. Colonizers move in. Investors profit. That is the pattern — in Africa, in the Americas, in Palestine.
When a state calls rubble “renewal,” you are hearing the language of conquest. When a superpower calls it a “Riviera,” you are hearing the marketing plan.
History Repeats
The same script, updated for our age:
Berlin, 1884: Europe carves up Africa, no Africans at the table.
Gaza, 2025: Israeli ministers talk with the U.S. about dividing the Strip after “demolition.”
Colonial logic: The people on the land are disposable; the land itself is profitable.
Family, this is not “security.” It is not “defense.” It is the oldest story in the world: steal the land, sell the future.

Rodney’s Lens, Gaza’s Reality
Rodney taught that the wealth of empire is built on the engineered poverty of the colonized. Underdevelopment is a policy, not a coincidence. The Berlin Conference wasn’t a meeting — it was a business plan.
Look at Gaza through that lens: starvation policies, the collapse of hospitals and schools, the destruction of housing, and then, on top of the rubble, the promise of “renewal.”
It’s the same plan. Wreck the present, seize the land, monetize the future. It’s literally how gentrification works, but this is far more nefarious.
And now they speak openly of it: Smotrich says the demolition is done; Trump flirts with a Riviera; “negotiations” begin about percentages. The mask is off.
International Law Means Nothing to Them
There’s another piece of this story, Family: Israel has said out loud that no international law applies to them.
They have ignored rulings of the International Court of Justice. They have dismissed the Genocide Convention. They mock the Geneva Conventions.
Israeli officials have said publicly that they are not bound by any external law. That is why they can talk so openly about turning Gaza into real estate.
Under international law, as the occupying power, Israel is responsible for the welfare of civilians in Gaza. Instead, they bomb hospitals, starve children, and blockade food and medicine. And then — with a straight face — they call the destruction “the first stage of renewal.”
This is the essence of lawlessness. To declare yourself outside of law is to declare yourself outside of humanity.
Family, when a state says no law binds it, history has always called that tyranny. Whether Nazi Germany, apartheid South Africa, or now Israel, the pattern is the same: absolute power, absolute impunity, absolute destruction.
This Is Not “Reconstruction”
Family, let me say this with moral clarity: Gaza is not a project. Gaza is not a portfolio. Gaza is a people.
When you kill the people and call it demolition, when you rename their homes “assets,” when you price their coastline as a bonanza — you are not rebuilding. You are colonizing.
Gaza is not a real estate bonanza. It is a crime scene. Every new tower raised on this land will stand on mass graves. Every developer’s rendering is a curtain over the bodies.
