If You Read This Work, You’re Already Part of It — Now I’m Asking You to Help Hold It Up as a Member, OK?
Please chip in today so that we can continue to push hard for truth and justice in the world!
I don’t like to ask you for anything.
I prefer to just show up in your inbox with receipts, truth, and the kind of moral clarity that powerful people hate—because it makes it harder to lie.
But today I’m asking you, directly, to become a member of The North Star.
Before I say anything else, please click here to become a member and click here to join as a monthly, annual, or founding member. I keep this work free for the world—for readers in Gaza, for students in public schools, for families living in deep poverty, for people who will never be able to afford paywalls—but that only works if some of you who can afford it decide to carry part of the load. Your support keeps this work free for them, and even for you when you can’t afford to pay.
Now let me tell you why I’m asking today.
For over two years, since October of 2023, we’ve been watching a genocide unfold in Gaza in real time. We’ve been watching governments bully courts, twist language, and bury evidence. We’ve been watching the world’s most powerful countries demand “rules-based order” while breaking every rule that protects human life. And we’ve been watching propaganda get so loud that ordinary people start doubting their own eyes.
In moments like this, independent work like The North Star becomes either more necessary than ever—or it gets squeezed out.
There is no corporate sponsor behind this. There is no political party paying the bills. No billionaire foundation is quietly underwriting the truth so I can take all the risks and none of the heat.
It’s just us.
It’s you choosing to open these emails.
It’s me choosing not to look away.
And it’s a smaller group of people who decide, “I’m going to put real support behind the kind of journalism I say I believe in.”
That’s what membership is. It’s not a tip jar. It’s not charity. It’s not “supporting a creator.”
It’s ownership.
It’s you saying, “I want this voice to exist in the world, and I’m willing to help hold it up.”
And I’m asking you to do it right now: click here to become a member and click here to join as a monthly, annual, or founding member.
Here’s what changes when you become a member.
You’re funding the time it takes to do this properly: the deep reads, the court filings, the documents, the source calls, the careful writing that doesn’t just tell you what happened, but tells you why it matters, who benefits, and what it means for your conscience.
You’re funding independence—the ability to say genocide when it’s genocide, war crimes when they’re war crimes, colonial theft when it’s colonial theft—without worrying about whether an advertiser gets nervous or a sponsor complains.
And you’re helping build what comes next. I’m working to launch The Shaun King Show, a video-first podcast so we can put these receipts on screen, bring in guests, and reach people who will never read a long article but will absolutely watch the truth when it’s delivered with clarity. Doing that at the level we need requires a real team. Membership is how we build it.
I know some of you are reading this and thinking, “Shaun, I love the work, but money is tight.”
I hear you. And I mean this: you are the reason I keep this work free. If you can’t join right now, I’m not mad. I’m grateful you’re here. Read. Learn. Share. Stay in the fight.
But I’m speaking directly to those of you who do have some margin. To the people who open these emails consistently. To the people who forward posts to friends. To the people who have ever read a piece and thought, “I didn’t know anyone was going to say it like this.”
If that’s you, I’m asking you to stop assuming “other people” will do it.
This is one of those moments where the simplest thing is also the most powerful: step into the circle of people who make this possible.
Take sixty seconds. Choose a level that fits your life. Then do it.
Click here to become a member.
Click here to join as a monthly, annual, or founding member.
And if you’ve been waiting for the “right time,” hear me: the right time is the moment you feel that internal nudge that says, “This matters.”
That’s what you’re supporting. A place where truth doesn’t get negotiated.
Love and appreciate each of you.
Your friend and brother,
Shaun
Don’t Stop Here
If you want a quick way to help even if you don’t join today, here’s one: forward this email to three people who care about truth, justice, and Gaza. Tell them to read The North Star for a week. If it moves them, they’ll join—and that’s how we grow a community that can’t be silenced.
