🟦 Here are the only 6 congresspeople I trust when it comes to Israel. The list might surprise you.
Yesterday Congress voted an astounding 422-6 against reducing funding to Israel. Who the 6 are might surprise you.

🗳️ The Vote Was 422 to 6
Last week, the U.S. House of Representatives voted on a bill to send $500 million in additional funding to Israel — this, on top of the $3.8 billion the U.S. already sends every year.
The aid was meant to further fund Israel’s Iron Dome, David’s Sling, and Iron Beam missile defense systems — part of a security agreement that runs parallel to other U.S.-Israel military cooperation.
The timing? Just hours after Israel bombed the Holy Family Catholic Church in Gaza — killing civilians, destroying one of the oldest churches in the region, and deepening the devastation of a city already facing famine.
And yet… 422 members of Congress voted yes.
Only six said no.
✋🏽 The List — And Why It Matters
These are the only six members of Congress who voted against the latest $500 million military package to Israel:
Rashida Tlaib (D-MI)
Ilhan Omar (D-MN)
Summer Lee (D-PA)
Al Green (D-TX)
Thomas Massie (R-KY)
Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA)
Yes. That last name is not a typo.
Yes. I know exactly who she is.
Yes. It’s complicated. I’ll explain.
If there’s one thing that binds all six of these lawmakers together — it’s this: not one of them takes a single penny from AIPAC. Not a cent. In a Congress where AIPAC and its affiliated super PACs spend tens of millions of dollars each election cycle to buy loyalty, bend policy, and silence criticism of Israel, these six are financially and politically independent. That matters.
They can tell the truth because they’re not bought. Tlaib and Omar have long been AIPAC’s top targets. Summer Lee had millions spent against her in both her primary and general elections by AIPAC-aligned forces. Thomas Massie and Marjorie Taylor Greene are too ideologically unpredictable to be on AIPAC’s roster. And Al Green, who rarely speaks on this issue, has stayed out of their orbit. If you want to know who you can trust — start with who’s free. These six are. That’s why they could vote the way they did.
🔍 Let’s Break It Down
✅ Tlaib & Omar
You already know. Brave. Consistent. Fierce defenders of Palestinian rights — and punished repeatedly for it.
They’ve faced censure, racist attacks, and death threats for daring to say what no one else in Congress will say:
That Israel is committing war crimes. That it’s apartheid. That genocide is happening. And that the U.S. is funding it.
They stood tall — again — even as nearly every Democrat abandoned them - including some members of “The Squad” who still back Israel.
✅ Summer Lee
A second term Black congresswoman from Pennsylvania, Summer Lee has quickly become one of the few voices in Congress willing to speak honestly about Gaza.
She voted no — and continues to face immense pressure from AIPAC-backed PACs trying to unseat her. She knew this vote would make her a target. She did it anyway.
✅ Al Green
Longtime Democratic congressman from Texas. His vote may have surprised many — but it’s a signal that even older members of the party are starting to break ranks when it comes to blind support for Israeli military funding. Al Green has been pretty consistent on this and doesn’t take a DIME from AIPAC.
⚠️ Thomas Massie
A libertarian-leaning Republican from Kentucky. Massie’s opposition to foreign aid is ideological — he opposes nearly all foreign military spending, not just Israel’s.
But here’s the point: He voted no.
And on a vote where 422 people said yes, I’ll take the six no’s — and explain the nuance later.
🚨 Marjorie Taylor Greene
This is where it gets complex.
You don’t have to like her.
You don’t have to agree with her about anything else.
I don’t. At all.
But this week, she stood on the House floor — as a staunch Trump supporter, as a Christian nationalist — and said this:
“Israel bombed the Catholic Church in Gaza, and that entire population is being wiped out as they continue their aggressive war… My amendment would strike $500 million in funding for nuclear-armed Israel’s missile defense system.”
And she said this too:
“Israel already has universal healthcare. Subsidized college. We’re $37 trillion in debt, and our own young people can’t afford rent, a car, or a home.”
“Since I’ve been in Congress, we’ve voted on 22 resolutions about Israel. Not one about defending working-class Americans. Not one about protecting our own people.”
Is she saying it for the same reasons Tlaib is?
No.
Is she grounded in justice or anti-colonial solidarity?
No.
But the fact remains: she told a deeper truth than 400+ Democrats and Republicans COMBINED.
🧭 What This Vote Exposed
There is no true anti-war movement in Congress right now — except these six.
Not a single other member was willing to say no. Not even after a church bombing. Not even as children die from hunger.
Both parties are in lockstep — not just funding genocide, but punishing the few who dare oppose it.
🔥 My Takeaway
I don’t care if the truth comes from the left or the right.
I care that it’s the truth.
And the truth is: Israel is committing war crimes. And the U.S. is writing the checks.
If only six people in Congress have the spine to vote against that, then those are the six I trust — at least on this issue.
Even if it offends my sense of political identity.
This is why The North Star exists
No one else is going to say it like this.
Not MSNBC. Not Fox. Not The New York Times.
They’re either too scared or too bought.
But we’re not.
We’re people-funded. People-powered. And right now we’re ranked #18 in the country for independent news.
Let’s keep telling the truth — and rise even higher.

I have opened up comments for us to really talk about this. It's a crisis. The overwhelming majority of Americans don't want BILLIONS of our taxes going to fund the genocide but only SIX people in Congress still have the guts we need.
Where’s AOC, Khanna, Jayapal, and others who pose as progressives?
