🚨 BREAKING: Hamas Just Accepted Trump’s Exchange Formula — Here’s What It Really Means
I am watching this very closely and will report back all updates I have to you in real time.
Family — before we begin, a quick ask. This kind of reporting is costly, risky, and urgent. I keep Gaza coverage free for everyone, always. If my work helps you see through the fog, please become a paid member of The North Star so I can keep doing it at full strength.
What Happened — In Plain English
Earlier this evening, the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) issued an official statement “In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate,” responding to President Donald Trump’s proposal.
The headline: Hamas approves a ceasefire track that includes the release of all Israeli prisoners, living and deceased, under the exchange formula in Trump’s plan, with appropriate field conditions and immediate negotiations through mediators.
They also say they’re ready to hand over Gaza’s day-to-day administration to a technocratic Palestinian body — independents, not faction-led — based on national consensus and backed by Arab and Islamic partners.
Everything else — borders, sovereignty, the right of return, the future of Gaza — must be decided by a unified Palestinian national framework, rooted in international law and UN resolutions.
The Exact Words That Matter
Hamas “announces its approval to release all prisoners of the occupation—both living and the bodies of the deceased—according to the exchange formula included in President Trump’s proposal, and with the provision of appropriate field conditions for carrying out the exchange process. … The movement also reiterates its approval to hand over the administration of the Gaza Strip to a Palestinian body composed of independents (technocrats), based on Palestinian national consensus and supported by Arab and Islamic backing.”
They explicitly “appreciate the Arab, Islamic, and international efforts, as well as the efforts of U.S. President Donald Trump” aimed at halting the genocide, securing aid, rejecting occupation, and preventing displacement.
Why This Is a Break in the Narrative
For two years the dominant Western script has been: there’s no partner; Hamas doesn’t want peace; they won’t release captives; they refuse to relinquish power; they’re obstacles to humanitarian relief.
This statement undercuts all of that:
Captives: Approval to release all under the Trump formula.
Governance: Willingness to handover administration to a non-partisan technocratic authority.
Humanitarian access: Green-lighting aid entry.
Process: Immediate talks through mediators.
That leaves a different question on the table: If the stated Israeli/U.S. goals are captives home + guns silent + aid in + local governance that isn’t Hamas, what’s the holdup now?

Important Statement
Regarding Hamas’s Response to the Proposal of U.S. President Trump
Out of concern to stop the aggression and the genocide being inflicted upon our steadfast people in the Gaza Strip, and based on national responsibility and a commitment to the principles, rights, and supreme interests of our people, the Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, conducted in-depth consultations within its leadership bodies, extensive consultations with Palestinian forces and factions, as well as discussions with brotherly mediators and friends, in order to reach a responsible position in dealing with the plan proposed by U.S. President Donald Trump.
After thorough study, the movement has made its decision and has delivered the following response to the brotherly mediators:
(The Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, appreciates the Arab, Islamic, and international efforts, as well as the efforts of U.S. President Donald Trump, aimed at halting the war on the Gaza Strip, achieving a prisoner exchange, allowing immediate entry of humanitarian aid, rejecting the occupation of the Strip, and opposing the displacement of our Palestinian people from it.
In this context, and in a manner that achieves an end to the war and the full withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, the movement announces its approval to release all prisoners of the occupation—both living and the bodies of the deceased—according to the exchange formula included in President Trump’s proposal, and with the provision of appropriate field conditions for carrying out the exchange process. In this regard, the movement affirms its readiness to immediately enter into negotiations, through the mediators, to discuss the details.
The movement also reiterates its approval to hand over the administration of the Gaza Strip to a Palestinian body composed of independents (technocrats), based on Palestinian national consensus and supported by Arab and Islamic backing.
As for the other issues included in President Trump’s proposal that relate to the future of the Gaza Strip and the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, these are subject to a comprehensive national position and must be based on relevant international laws and resolutions. These matters shall be discussed within a unified Palestinian national framework, in which Hamas will participate and contribute with full responsibility.)

International Law, Not PR
Hamas ties “the future of Gaza and the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people” to international law and UN resolutions. That’s not radical; that’s the black-letter standard the world claims to accept. Occupation is illegal. Collective punishment is illegal. Starvation as a weapon is a war crime. Calling this a “war” is a lie — it’s an ongoing genocide against a locked population.
What I Expect the U.S. and Israel to Say Next
The spin will be fast: definitions, conditions, sequencing, verification, intermediaries, monitoring, commas and commas and commas.
But the core is simple: a viable path to ceasefire + exchange + technocratic governance + aid is on the table. Every day it isn’t accepted is an affirmative policy choice to continue mass death.
Objection & Answer
Objection: “This is just propaganda; Hamas won’t actually do it.”
Answer: The statement commits to “immediate negotiations through mediators” and releasing all captives per Trump’s formula under field conditions — which is how every exchange in modern conflicts works.
What the evidence shows: The hurdle is not Hamas won’t talk — it’s whether the U.S. and Israel will accept the exchange and ceasefire that the statement green-lights.
Objection: “Handing Gaza to technocrats is a trick; Hamas will still rule.”
Answer: The language explicitly defers future governance questions to a unified national framework and offers handover to independents with regional backing.
What the evidence shows: If the U.S./Israel want a non-Hamas administrative authority, this opens that door — the question is whether they’ll walk through it.
Objection: “You’re legitimizing Hamas.”
Answer: I’m legitimizing law, life, and truth. If a proposal returns captives, stops the bombs, and feeds babies — take it.
What the evidence shows: Every hour of delay means preventable deaths. That’s the only “legitimacy” that matters.
What This Could Unlock — Immediately
If accepted as stated:
Captives finally come home. Families finally breathe.
Bombs stop. Babies stop dying from missiles and from starvation.
Aid floods in. Hospitals, NICUs, and community clinics stabilize.
A functional interim authority runs Gaza while final-status questions move to a political track grounded in international law.
All of that is possible right now. Which means non-action should be named plainly: a decision to keep killing.

Thank you so much for consolidating this information. The opposing talking points are always incredibly predictable, I’m so happy Hamas’ response was meticulously articulated to be able to stand strong against vitriolic misinterpretations. Praying for our brothers and sisters everyday 🤍❤️💚🖤
