Shaun. This article IMHO is the most powerful you have written. “Moral injury” is not nearly strong enough to describe what many of us feel, those of us who are paying attention.

Ahmed Al Ahmed has shown the world what it needed to see, to know. Bless his courage. Thank you.

You’ve captured the moment well. I do not believe it could have been said any better. It’s a shame and a waste for these lives to have been lost. What it does is harm the masses for the parents and children, everyone, who has a loved one who will never be there to celebrate with them again.

Ahmed is a hero and an example for generations to come. Someone we can all learn from. May he stay blessed.

Thank you for all you do to bring us this reporting.

You have captured the world we are in now because of Israel's genocide and its supporters in that article. I fully agree with you that they have normalized mass killing and I think that is by design. Seems they have dark plans for the future. As for Ahmed, if the attack was a false flag then he single handedly messed it up for them. Allah is the best of planners brother. Peace be upon you.

This article has said most of what we have felt and thought. Thank you for going through the agony of getting through the grief to put it out to the world to read 🙏🏼. Much respect.

It’s regrettably true we have become inured to violence and cruelty .We must find a way to shed this skin that allows such barbarism to poison our humanity.

And we're being flanked. History has shown us this has happened before - the book Imperial Cruise, the podcast Ultra, Prequel about early 1900's (same issues similar language, we should have seen this coming) Burn Order - same language years later - killing and interning people NOW

Thank you Shaun for your voice - keep talking

May Peace be with you, my brother, and find its way through you to all hearts you touch. The numbness, I am told, is part of our survival heritage, so we can arise in the face of horror and go on to do some good. We can do nothing if we merely crumple and need help ourselves. So we bless this moment of numbness for what it is and use it for the good of all.

I’m with you and, as an ok-boomer, the Viet Nam carnage flooding evening news cycles inured too many Americans to millions of Vietnamese being slaughtered as normal. But that gave rise to the biggest anti government movement since the civil war. And, of course, a much more ethically righteous movement than antebellum cotton plantations.

No matter how numb I and you and others are to Genocide in Palestine we can and will overcome this.

Thank you for writing this piece, the double standard is clearly explained and I hope readers on the other side of these belief systems get to read it and sit with it. I’m curious why you wrote “one year of genocide”? The first time it seemed fit for the sentence, but the second time made me feel confused. Is it because of it being very recently that scholars recognize the atrocities Israhell is committing as defining of a genocide?

You are right. I am immune to the shock. This is what has been created by false rhetoric. Something has to snap in certain people’s mind. Like the two shooters who shot into the beach. Something had to happen to their brain to decide to do this shooting spree. It didn’t just happen. It was bred by the hate the western media and social media has created towards Muslims. I agree that the shooting was wrong. In every way. But what happens to the people that are constantly subjected to judgements by society saying that they are bad? They are sub human. They follow an evil religion. They are evil. They are ostracized from society. They are viewed as pariahs. Do they not snap? Can they just keep seeing inhuman things being done to Muslims in Syria, in Lebanon, in Afghanistan, in Sudan, in Palestine, in India. The list goes on. How strong is the propaganda of the Jews that so many people are brought down by a few? The few that control every narrative? That no one believes that Muslims could be good? Like Ahmed?

Thank you Shaun, as always, for your insights. Truly I enjoy every word. Truth is what you write.

I'm trying to find the words to thank you for this post. The cold indifference of family, friends, neighbors when I talk about the atrocities that continue right this minute in Gaza weighs heavily. By sharing your heart you've lightened my burden. We continue to fight.

I am touched beyond belief. I'm not sure I would have read or heard about Ahmed. Perhaps I would have, but thanks to you I have heard about him sooner than later. What gifts some souls bring to the planet.

Before Oct 7th I used to equate Jewish viciousness on their suffering at the hands of the Nazis and lashed out at anyone they felt threatened by BUT no longer the Jews have become the new Hitler and the Palestinians have become the new “Jews” a group of people to be exterminated!

And with all the intelligence they possess not knowing Oct 7 wasn’t known weeks ahead and the way Netanyahu and the right wing assholes in Israel it wouldn’t surprise me that Jews especially American Jews didn’t help fund HAMAS .

So what happened in Australia has become not a way of life but a way of death in America, school kids almost on a biweekly schedule, concerts, family gatherings nothing is sacred anymore.

There are three people in this world I lay a hell of a lot of the blame and that is Netanyahu, Trump and Putin there are definitely more but not with the power behind them
