I’m 33 and just now I started to realize that the same brainwashing that’s used by the Israelis to fill their people with hatred against the Palestinians has been used on me to turn me against everyone else who is different from me - in religion, in culture, in any way, you name it. Only now I’ve started to break away from that and tell myself “we are all human, all the same, trying to have a good life and pay the bills and care for our children.” I now see the divide and conquer strategy ingrained in our minds for generations. The “we’re better bc we’re x religion, or from x land, or x color, or x working class.” The looking down on others. Thinking you’re the chosen people. Esp being a Muslim, raised with that “we are going to heaven and they’re going to hell” is the same “we're the chosen people” thinking that the Jews had that Allah warned us of. “Black individuals comprised 33% of the sentenced state and federal prison population, despite representing only approximately 13% of the total U.S. population.” That’s from multiple sources, specifically The World Data, The Internet Hub.
Right now it’s Black people and Hispanic people and Palestinians in Gaza. We all saw what they did to Renee Good. If we can reflect and think back to Selma. They had no mercy for the White people who dare to speak out in defense of these people. Renee Good was just caught in the crosshairs. We haven’t even seen what they will do. Except we have. They beat them to death on a bridge and they targeted them as they dined out. Not just Black and Brown people, ANYONE who dares to think of getting in the way of their sick agenda.
I also recall a story called A Dry White Season. It’s a book and made into a movie. It was assigned to me in a Black authors course in college. To get the movie I had kind of hunt it down. It’s just not easy to get for no good reason. Because the story follows a man who interferes with apartheid in South Africa. There is a series of events that nearly ruin the lead character’s life because he, a White man in South Africa, decided to go against the status quo.
We are repeating history. Only at escalated pace. Regardless of how people feel about it now, if they find themselves uncomfortable later it may be too late. The time to rebel against what has become the “status quo” is now. This “policy”, this “policing” will not stop at Black and Brown people. And it’s so sad that’s the argument. I investigated the snafu in the maryknoll nuns murders and it seems that a whole lot of dirty deeds went unreported. Witnesses refused to name names out of a reasonable fear of death. Seems someone got away with murder. We actually witnessed a supply truck going to the contras burning to the ground outside of oakridge, or. As ammo exploded and grenades. Locals looted firearms as I watched, it was horrible.
