A Note from Shaun King to Sunni Muslim Men
We are so much better than this, dear brothers. You know it. I know it.
“And what is it with you? You do not fight in the cause of Allah and for oppressed men, women, and children who cry out, “Our Lord! Deliver us from this land of oppressors! Appoint for us a savior; appoint for us a helper—all by Your grace. Believers fight for the cause of Allah, whereas disbelievers fight for the cause of the Devil. So fight against Satan’s ˹evil˺ forces. Indeed, Satan’s schemes are ever weak.”

As-Salaam-Alaikum My Dear Brothers,
I have something very important that I want to say to all of my Muslim brothers - particularly to all of my brothers who, like me, are Sunni Muslims.
Not one reason our Shia brothers give for being willing, ready, and able to fight to defend themselves and their people is exclusive to them.
They are deeply motivated by the examples of Imam Ali, Hassan, and Hussein - peace be upon them. As they should be.
Those men also belong to us. They motivate me. Deeply so. As they should you.
I am seeing a narrative form about Shia Muslims that they are the fighting Muslims. That they are the Muslims who defend themselves and challenge their enemies.
And on so many levels right now - this is true - but it absolutely should not just be true for them. They have the same Quran as we do.
Allah describes the people of faith as those who stand for justice:
“O you who believe! Stand firmly for justice, as witnesses for Allah…” (Quran 4:135)
Allah calls us to defend the oppressed!
Islam does not just permit self-defense - it is required of us.
“Fight in the cause of Allah those who fight you.” (Quran 2:190)
Our own Prophet ﷺ was a brilliant military strategist, general, and warrior. Be like Him.
Khaled ibn Walid is literally seen by some historians as the single best warrior of all time. Be like him.
We come from him. We come from Hamza. We come from Ali. Be like all of them.
We come from warriors. Do you understand me?
Our brothers in Gaza and the West Bank are Sunni warriors.
Our brothers in Iran and Yemen are Shia warriors.
But the root of what motivates them all is the same.
We have the same Qibla.
The same Quran.
The same Prophet ﷺ.
And all I am trying to say to us is this:
We don’t have to just admire our Shia brothers from afar.
We must also, like them, choose between two options:
FIGHTING BACK or Humiliation.
We are facing an enemy that openly hates us.
They don’t just say it - they act on it.
They blow up our mosques.
They murder our imams and scholars.
They slaughter our children.
They maim our elders.
They destroy our hospitals.
They mock our women.
And they film it and post it and dare us to do a single thing about it.
And either we can suffer that humiliation or we can fight back.
I am telling you that it’s our Islamic duty to fight back.
We aren’t helpless. Not at all.
It appears we are just afraid - or so colonized that we don’t even know our own value and worth.
Walahi I love you each for the sake of Allah, but I swear we are better than this.
As an Ummah we are barely even scratching the surface of our potential. I know you feel the same way.
Inshallah, we will shake off what is holding us back and become all that Allah requires of us.

Ramadan Mubarak to you and all during these times of tribulation, we make dua’ supplication for peace and justice. We also make dua’ that our fellow citizens will all wake up and realize we need to vote out every single recipient of Zionist dollars and finally release all the Mossad files and bring to justice every single one of them.
Also, yes, agree with you on our Sunni stance.
The late Azhari scholar Shaykh Abdelhamid Kishk, a Sunni was asked on whose side would he have taken during the Iraq-Iran war.
Kishk replied: “If it was up to me, I would have taken the hand of this one, the Iranian, and the hand of this one the Iraqi, brought them both together, to sit down, reconcile, and unite.”
Until then, the enemies will only want us to be in a perpetual blood bath, and losing the lives of the innocent.
The former PM of the Zionist regime already said: “The new Iran is Turkey.” The Zionists need to keep the whole world under stress, while they enjoy their lives, knowing they own America.
Therefore, it is upon us, to stand up and do everything we can to stop the funding of the evil Zionist entity.
In the 20th century, we were taught that Nazism was the most evil entity that needs to be eradicated.
In the 21st century, the world has now realized that Zionism is the most evil entity that needs to be abolished.

We can be united whilst still acknowledging our differences and being proud of our faith. Yes we have the same prophet and the same Quran but Shias are unique because their role model are the Ahlul Bayt. They take the sunnah of the Prophet from the narrations of the Ahlul Bayt. The Ahlul Bayt, in each generation have being oppressed and have been resilient. Shias are not only inspired by them, they try to exemplify them. Shias grew up with stories on how Imam Ali (as) lived and how Imam Hussein (as) died, THAT built their character.
