When a term like “collective punishment” comes up, we’ll define it in plain English and show you exactly where it appears in the Geneva Conventions and UN rulings, so you can explain it to anybody.

I’ve learned something from our own name. Frederick Douglass’s newspaper, The North Star, was sustained by readers who believed in building an independent voice for justice.
