First, although I haven't run the clearest footage of the point where the attempts to wrestle the observer to the ground turned int into a shooting, the footage does show it wasn't when he 'went for his waist' (putting his camera in his jacket pocket) and my kinesitic sense of the struggle is that his one arm and hand are being held away from his body by those using it as a lever to force him towards the ground, and the other is keeping his chest and face from being slammed into the ground.
And that he actually had his hand close enough to his body to put his camera in his pocket, but did NOT attempt to access the legal gun he was licensed to carry, even as he was under assault and in a position to use it to defend himself, the notion he tried while burdened with three people's weight restricting his movements so improbable as to be unbelievable.
Until the last two years, I had never seen a dead body, and definitely not a mutilated one. In Palestine I have now seen both - although I never saw the actual killing or mutilation of an individual. I find it hard to believe that no-one of colour has been killed in these circumstances. Since its inception the usa has been horribly racist - despite the fact that the settlers professed to be taking ‘civilisation and Christianity’ there. Their subsequent behaviour proved that they themselves had neither.
People in the rest of the world have always been amazed by what happens in the usa, such as all the shootings and the weird cults. I really wonder whether the cults come about somehow from the fact that many religious fanatics went there, and they have that sort of mindset. As far as the shootings are concerned, and the refusal to change gun law as they would in other countries, is it possible that there may be a very deep fear in people in the usa because of all the killings that have been done in the name of the usa? Maybe subconsciously they fear that retribution may come to them, and that they therefore need to be able to ‘protect’ themselves?
My feeling is that with the rejection of the Indigenous Americans, there is little history in the usa. What is there is war after war after war. These are not because other countries attack the usa, but because the usa interferes in the way they are run. Other reasons the usa has started wars are because they want to steal resources, against communism, or some other made-up reason.
