Mitch McConnell Uses Obama as Example to Dismiss Reparations

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell opposes reparations for African Americans and cited former President Barack Obama as a reason why. The Republican from Kentucky said the election of the nation’s first Black president was sufficient evidence that  the US has dealt with the “original sin of slavery.” “I don’t think reparations for something that happened 150 years ago for whom none of us currently living are responsible is a good idea,” the 77-year-old told reporters on June 18, according to BuzzFeed News-->
