Obama Endorse Joe Biden

In news that’s not really shocking whatsoever, after a long primary of sidelining former U.S. President, Barack Hussein Obama is throwing his political weight behind his old wingman, Joe Biden. Obama’s endorsement announcement is basically the surprise birthday party for you that everyone told you well in advance you were having and walked you into it with a sheer blindfold on. Now, what is of note about this endorsement reveal™ is that word on the electoral primary streets was that Barry was in the ear of Biden’s former Dem opponents for weeks prior looking to woo them onto the Joe train. They say Barry was making them calls, probably using his best smooth-talking, pause heavy cadence to convince them to dismiss any fantasies of revolution and get down with some easy listening moderate candidacy. And one by one, from Harris and Klobuchar to Yang and Gabbard, they all came out in support of the Biden campaign. Whether they were all influenced by the 4-4 is questionable, but apparently nothing about BO’s endorsement is coming out of the shadows, he was just keeping it low profile to not appear biased. But um….

White House correspondent Kaitlan Collins tweeted a quote live from the circus press room of Trump’s COVID-19 briefings that basically indicates that Donald John thinks he was crowned and not elected. For the past week or so, governors of coastal states have been working in tandem to figure out what d a reopening of the economy will look like given the impact of the coronavirus in their individual states. Well, the 45th accident president, when asked if any of the governors agreed with him having the authority to reopen their states, the ole boy said, “I haven’t asked anybody. You know why? Because I don’t have to.” This is yet another indication that the dude has never done any essential reading of his employee handbook, aka the Constitution, and is just outchea freestylin’ whatever logic comes to that demagogue brain of his. Many states and cities all over the country are still peaking in their cases of coronavirus contraction, but Trump acting like an abusive father fresh off a turnaround shift at the plant talmbout what his children are not gonna do in his house. It is clown level audacity that is not amusing in the least bit because folks are dying and America is leading from behind the rest of the developed world.

Charlotte Clymer’s analogy of Trump opening the economy to the shitshow that was the Fyre Festival is the common sense comic relief needed to provide some levity to what dude is trying to accomplish. For those who are unaware, the Fyre Festival was an event that essentially scammed thousands of people out of (collectively) millions of dollars when it promised to bring scores of concertgoers to a remote island for exclusive shows with some of music’s biggest acts and VIP treatment. Ultimately, it was none of what it was promised, two documentaries of its catastrophic failure was made and the main dude behind it ended up going to prison. The organizers of the Fyre Festival lured patrons with glossy stock images of beautiful people living their best lives on yachts and in sunny settings, and it worked until it didn’t. Similarly, the Swindler-In-Chief is seeking to entice the American public with the promise of a rapid return to commerce and everyday living, giving little to no deference to the advice of medical experts. The big difference is should the country reopen prematurely before there is a considerable flattening of virus contractions, the impact will be far greater than people in tents eating non-gourmet meals while waiting on artists that won’t show up. A rush to get things popping again is to flip the kill switch and folks keep trying to tell that boi that, but man….

Actor and Insecure creator, Issa Rae, recently enjoyed a successful season opening to her critically acclaimed HBO show on Easter Sunday. “Insecure” gives its viewers an unfiltered look at Black millenials navigating relationships, career, sex and friendships in the busyness of Los Angeles with raw honesty and deep cultural humor. In an interview with Teen Vogue, Rae talked about her lack of obligation to tell certain stories based on the show’s primary audience. “It’s my story. Who’s going to tell me what to say?” Rae said during the interview. The quote is essentially the creative version of “‘who gon’ check me boo?!” and the answer is: nobody. From her days creating the wildly popular series, “The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl,” to the current breakout success of “Insecure,” Rae has been reimagining the creative landscape for Black artists for the better part of a decade now and shows no signs of slowing down. Her creations are a cultural gift in that they embody fearlessness, innovation and the power of betting on one’s self.
