Today is the Day of Arafah, one of the most sacred days of the year for Muslims. Millions of Muslims around the world have been fasting, praying, giving charity, making dua, and trying to do deeds that are pleasing to Allah.

For my non-Muslim friends, the meaning is simple: this is a sacred day of mercy, generosity, and remembering the people who are suffering most.

And in this final hour, the good deed in front of us is clear.

We are trying to build a school for young orphans in Gaza.

These children are ages 5–9, serving Grades 1, 2, and 3. They should be learning how to read, write, count, ask questions, study Qur’an, play safely, and sit in a classroom with a teacher who knows their name. Instead, many have spent the past two years surrounded by displacement, hunger, fear, grief, and the loss of family.

A school will not erase everything they have endured. But it can give them structure again. It can give them a morning routine, a desk, a teacher, counselling support, friendship, play, and adults who are invested in their future.

That is what we are trying to make real.

Tonight may be Laylatul Qadr (pronounced “LIE-lah-tool KAH-dr”)—the Night of Power. The Qur’an describes it as “better than a thousand months” (Qur’an 97:3). In plain English for everyone: Muslims believe this is one of the most sacred nights of the year, when acts of mercy and giving can echo far beyond this moment.

So I want to try something with you.

Not a long explanation. Not a guilt trip. A simple challenge.

A 3-minute Laylatul Qadr challenge.

Set a timer for three minutes. And in those three minutes, do two things:

1) Choose your act of mercy for Gaza tonight.
Pick one (or both) and move immediately:

Option A: Fund warm Iftar meals for families in Gaza (immediate impact tonight)

Option B: Sponsor a newly orphaned child in Gaza (long-term stability for a child)
